How to Make Your Own Codes for PS2 Codebreaker

The Code Breaker cheat device allows PlayStation 2 owners to unlock and activate cheats, ̶0;Easter Eggs̶1; and other unusual behavior that wouldn̵7;t be seen during normal game play. Unlimited lives, unlimited ammunition and maxed-out strength and speed statistics are some of the many cheats made available by the device. Although a number of cheat code databases are available online for the Code Breaker, users can also create their own codes from scratch.

Instructions

    • 1

Download and install PS2Dis onto your computer. This program will allow users to read the hexadecimal data needed to extract codes from a PS2 game.

    • 2

Place the PS2 game in the DVD drive of your computer. Click on the ̶0;Start̶1; menu, select ̶0;Computer̶1; and then double-click on the DVD drive.

    • 3

Locate the ̶0;ELF̶1; file within the PS2 game̵7;s file directory. The file may appear under one of the following file names:

      SLES_
      SLUS_
      SCES_
      SCUS_
      SCPS_
      SLPS_
      PBPX_

Drag and drop the file onto the desktop. When finished, remove the PS2 game from the DVD drive.

    • 4

Open the file in PS2Dis. The 16-digit hexadecimal addresses are at the bottom of the screen on the left side. The descriptions for each address are to the right.

    • 5

Scroll through the addresses until you see one that corresponds to a desired cheat (e.g., ̶0;Resprays Are Free̶1;). Copy the hexadecimal code down on a sheet of paper.

    • 6

Turn the PS2 on and load the Code Breaker disc in the disc tray. Follow the on-screen instructions for adding the new code into the Code Breaker database.

    • 7

Remove the Code Breaker disc and insert the PS2 game disc when prompted. The game cheats should be active when the game starts.
