How do I Import PS2 Games from America to the UK?

Buying a PlayStation 2 game in your own region will usually be cheaper than importing a foreign version no matter where the current exchange rate between currencies stands. When you're unable to locate a particular game in your own country, though, you may wish to look further afield for a copy. If you're importing PS2 games from America to the U.K., there are a few rules and regulations you should be aware of before you buy your game.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the game that you want to buy from a reputable source. If you're based in the U.K. and shopping online, make sure that you reach the U.S. sites by typing the proper, gull addresses into your browser's address bar.

    • 2

Contact the seller and arrange payment and delivery details. When the package is sent, your vendor must complete a CN22 or a CN23 form which they will be able to pick up at their local post office. As the recipient, it's your responsibility to make sure that all the paperwork is completed correctly. If any information is missing or incorrect, your package may be delayed and you could incur extra charges.

    • 3

Pay the VAT (Value Added Tax) on your purchase when you receive notification from Royal Mail that your package has arrived. You can do this online or at your local Post Office. Goods worth less than £18 are exempt from VAT which is currently charged at 20% (as of January 2011). PS2 games are exempt from customs duties.
