The Rock Band video game includes a virtual guitar instrument. The guitar features five buttons, each assigned an individual colors. Users play the guitar by pressing color-specific buttons at the right time. Beginning Rock Band players may find the guitar difficult to play at first. The video game includes several resources designed to help novices get better at playing the guitar. Utilize these resources to become an expert Rock Band player.

  Practice songs continuously. Access the "Practice Mode" to work on your guitar playing. Practice mode plays any of the unlocked songs. Players can even slow the tempo down to a crawl to learn songs and techniques until they're comfortable at a higher tempo. You can even replay difficult portions of the song in real time until you master them. Utilize the practice mode to gain skill and experience.

  Play easy songs. Open the "Free Play" mode to play a single song in Rock Band. The songs are categorized by their level of difficulty. Select songs that are categorized as "Easy." Easy songs feature simple patterns that are easy to pick up.

  Select the "No Fail Mode" option prior to starting the easy song. This mode allows the song to play without the option of failing the song. Normally, failing a song would occur after repeated miss presses of the guitar notes. Attempt the easy song until you are able to master it completely.

  Repeat steps 1 through 3 for other songs in the Rock Band library. After your skills have increased, move on to intermediate, hard and expert songs.
