How to Troubleshoot PS2 Rock Band

The Sony PlayStation 2 "Rock Band" revolutionized music games for home consoles by adding a full band to the mix. This 2007 title added drums and a microphone to the standard two-guitar setup introduced by "Guitar Hero," allowing four players to rock out to their favorite songs while shooting for high scores. If you have trouble with your "Rock Band" equipment you can use some methods to try to solve the problem.

Instructions

    • 1

Check all of the plugs into the USB hub that come with the "Rock Band" kit to make sure they are securely fastened. The guitar wireless adapter, drums and microphone all connect to this hub.

    • 2

Examine the USB hub to ensure it is plugged into a working wall outlet. Make sure any wall switches or circuit breakers that may power the wall outlet are turned on.

    • 3

Synchronize your guitar with the wireless adapter. Plug the adapter into the USB hub and then press the synchronization button located on the wireless adapter. Press the same sync button on the guitar.

    • 4

Check the drum pedal. This should be plugged into the slot on the back of the drum set.

    • 5

Inspect the "Rock Band" disc for residue. If the disc is dirty, wipe it with a dry cloth. Clean it from the inside of the ring to the outside rather than in a circular motion to prevent scratching.
