Instructions
Unlocking Vergil (alternate character)
Insert a memory card with saved data from "Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening" into your PS2. The memory card can go into any memory card slot and have any other saved games on it as long as there is at least one Devil May Cry 3 save.
Insert "Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening Special Edition" into your PlayStation 2. The game will automatically detect the saved data on your memory card from "Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening." Vergil is now unlocked as a playable character, along with the "Bloody Palace" game mode.
Beat "Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening Special Edition" using Dante on any difficulty level to unlock Vergil and the "Bloody Palace" game mode. Beating the game using Dante is the only way for players to unlock both Vergil and the "Bloody Palace" game mode without saved data from "Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening."
Switching Characters
Select either "Story" or "Bloody Palace" mode from the "Main" menu.
Select "Story" mode and pick Vergil as your main character. Vergil's story mode features a stripped down narrative due to the fact that Vergil is the game's main antagonist. The boss fights and levels are still the same, though.
Choose the "Bloody Palace" game mode and select Vergil as your character. "Bloody Palace" is a survival type game mode that pits you against 9,999 floors filled with multiple enemies, no save points and few health power-ups. After each completed floor players can choose to advance either 1, 10 or 100 floors up.
