How to Win an Inferno Match

Released in November 2008, "WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2009" boasts several additions to the wrestling franchise, including the "Road to Wreslemania" mode, redesigned tag team matches and Inferno matches. Inferno matches feature two wrestlers brawling in an elevated ring bordered with fire. Once the ring temperature reaches 500 degrees, the first wrestler to get dragged into the burning ropes loses the match.

Instructions

    • 1

Execute moves on your opponent. The buttons you press to execute these moves depends on your version of the game. For instance, for the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game, press the "Square" button to execute strikes and the "Triangle" button to perform signature moves.

    • 2

Keep an eye on the temperature gauge at the bottom left corner of the screen. At the beginning of the match, the gauge reads "300 degrees." As you execute moves against your opponent, the gauge will gradually rise. If you fail to execute any moves for five to 10 seconds, the gauge will drop 50 to 75 degrees.

    • 3

Perform signature moves to drastically increase the temperature gauge. Your goal is to raise the gauge to 500 degrees. You can reach 500 degrees with standard strikes, but using signature moves is much faster.

    • 4

Avoid taking damage from your opponent by practicing reversals. For each control scheme, one button reverses grapple moves and another reverses strike moves. For instance, for the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3, "L2" reverses strike moves and "R2" reverses grapple moves.

    • 5

Grapple with your opponent once the temperature gauge reaches 500 degrees. While grappling, pull your opponent toward the ropes with your respective controller's movement stick to throw him into the burning conflagration and win the match.
