How to Beat the Statue in God of War 2

"God of War 2," released for the PlayStation 2 in 2007, puts you back into the role of Kratos as he attempts revenge against those who have wronged him. The first boss you will encounter is the Colossus of Rhodes, a giant bronze statue brought to life by Zeus. You will need to fight the Colossus three separate times over the course of the level in order to defeat him.

Instructions

  1. First and Second Encounters

    • 1

Use the right analog stick to perform a dodge roll to avoid the Colossus's attacks. Press the "Square" and "Triangle" buttons together to perform combination attacks when the Colossus' face is close enough to the platform Kratos is standing on. Enough of these attacks will stun the Colossus.

    • 2

Move to the catapult and press "R1" on your controller to shoot the boulder at the Colossus. Quickly tap the "O" button while the Colossus is distracted to load Kratos onto the catapult and fling him at the dazed and damaged Colossus.

    • 3

Perform the button combinations that are shown on the screen during the quick-time event on your controller. If you have pressed the buttons correctly, a cutscene will play and the battle will be over, with Kratos as the victor.

    • 4

Repeat the steps followed for the first encounter during the second encounter, as the battle is identical.

    Final Encounter

    • 5

Strike the Colossus in the hands while avoiding his blows. When he becomes stunned, rapidly tap "O" while standing next to the sword to power it up. Do this three times, at which point a cutscene will play and Kratos will be equipped with the sword. Attack the Colossus with the sword until a cutscene occurs.

    • 6

Navigate through the inside of the Colossus's body, making your way to the top. Destroy the giant blue mechanisms you encounter along the way.

    • 7

Strike the pendulum with the sword to block the Colossus's energy rays when you have reached the head. Navigate from one side of the head to the other while the rays are being blocked to destroy the final mechanism, winning the battle against the Colossus of Rhodes.
