Star Wars Games for the PS2

"Star Wars" video games have been successful on a variety of platforms. The PlayStation 2, which was released by Sony in 2000, featured many games that are rooted in the "Star Wars" universe. Most of these were met with positive reviews from video game critics, though a few were panned.
  1. Star Wars: Starfighter

    • "Star Wars: Starfighter" allows you to fly many "Star Wars" fighter ships in various battles and missions. It was released by LucasArts in 2001. The game received an average approval rating of 86% from GameRankings, a video game review website. It was one of the very first "Star Wars" games available for the Playstation 2. A sequel was released in 2002 called "Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter." It also received positive reviews, with a GameRankings score of 82%.

    Star Wars: Battlefront

    • "Star Wars: Battlefront" and "Star Wars: Battlefront II" both allow you to participate in battles that take place in popular "Star Wars" locations, including Hoth and the forests of Endor. These games are best when played with several people; they both have a limited single-player mode. The games were released in 2002 and 2005, and received average approval ratings of 83% and 84% from GameRankings, respectively.

    Star Wars: Racer Revenge

    • "Star Wars: Racer Revenge" is a podracing game released in 2002 from Rainbow Studios and LucasArts; it was a sequel to the Nintendo 64 title, "Star Wars: Podracing." In this game, you take control of beefed-up pods and race around dangerous tracks, reaching speeds of over 600 miles per hour. The game received an average GameRankings approval rating of 75%.

    LEGO Star Wars

    • "LEGO Star Wars" and "LEGO Star Wars: The Original Trilogy" were released in 2005 and 2006, respectively. The games tell the popular "Star Wars" story as it would appear in the LEGO universe; you'll play through the six movies using LEGO characters in levels made from the colorful blocks. "LEGO Star Wars" received an average approval rating of 79% from GameRankings; "The Original Trilogy" was met with an 85% approval rating.

    Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

    • "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed" was released in 2008 and allows you to play as a Jedi, using the Force as your primary weapon. The game received an average approval rating of 69% from GameRankings. "The Force Unleashed" was released for next-generation consoles (including the PlayStation 3), and it was simply ported over to the PlayStation 2. This resulted in graphical flaws and diminished features.

    Movie Tie-Ins

    • "Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith" was released in 2005 from Double Helix Games and LucasArts. The game allows you to play as various "Star Wars" characters during the events of the final film, "The Revenge of the Sith." The game received an average approval rating of 65% from GameRankings. "Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes" was released in 2009 from LucasArts in correlation with the 2009 film "The Clone Wars." This was the last "Star Wars" game released for the PlayStation 2, and it was also the most critically panned, receiving a score of only 49% from GameRankings.
