"Cabela&'s Trophy Bucks"
Activision Value released “Cabela’s Trophy Bucks” for PlayStation 2, Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360 in September of 2007. “Trophy Bucks” focuses on finding different types of deer, and players are challenged to find the most impressive one possible. While deer are the primary targets, hunters are also able to capture smaller prey such as ducks and squirrels. Once gamers start getting kills, they are rewarded with special abilities that make future hunts easier. Gamers are able to go on a long series of hunts, though there are no additional game modes that allow other players to join the action.
"Cabela&'s Outdoor Adventures"
Activision released “Cabela’s Outdoor Adventures” in September of 2009 for PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PC, Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360. Rather than move at a leisurely pace like many hunting simulations, “Outdoor Adventures” gives players goals that they must reach in each level before moving on to another group of tasks. Players are also given a hunting guide and a Garmin GPS system to help them track different types of animals during their hunts. Aside from hunting large game, players also have the ability to fish in “Outdoor Adventures.” To fish, players get a boat and are challenged to set off in a lake in hopes of a catch.
"Cabela&'s Alaskan Adventures"
Activision Value released “Cabela’s Alaskan Adventures” in September of 2006 for PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360. Gamers begin “Alaskan Adventures” by creating a hunter and altering his appearance. Once the hunter is created, players can practice their shooting skills before purchasing different weapons, hunting tools and wardrobe options. Once the actual hunting in “Alaskan Adventures” begins, players must pace themselves to avoid running out of stamina during a hunt. Much like in real life, hunters become tired faster by running than they do by walking. Players choose between three difficulty levels of increasing toughness, and there are several different animals to hunt. Animals in “Alaskan Adventures” range from ducks all the way to giant bears.
"Deer Hunter"
Atari released “Deer Hunter” for PlayStation 2 in December of 2003. “Deer Hunter” players are impacted by the same things actual hunters are, as deer are only visible at certain times of day and sounds and scents can be used to attract them. Players must make sure they are being quiet to avoid calling attention to themselves, as the leaves and brush underneath are noisy. It is also important to avoid being seen by deer, as they will run off into the forest as soon as they spot a hunter.
