Rapala Pro Fishing
Rapala Pro Fishing for PS2 was a joint effort from Activision and Sand Grain Studios, according to IGN. The video game features equipment and accessories from the fishing brand Rapala, as well as advice from Rapala experts. Players can choose from two modes of play in Rapala Pro Fishing: tournament fishing and free fishing. In tournament mode, players must compete against other fishermen within a certain time limit to catch larger and more fish, while in free fishing mode, there is no competition, just catching fish. In both modes, you can unlock new gear by accomplish goals, such as catching a certain number of a certain type of fish species, or catching a particularly large fish.
Reel Fishing III
In comparison to Rapala Pro Fishing, Natsume’s Reel Fishing III is more of a simulation-style game, wherein the former is more arcade-style: focusing on fun rather than recreating precise fishing conditions. According to IGN, Reel Fishing III features 30 different species of fish and 20 different areas and stages, which can play host to a variety of different weather conditions. The game also features event scenarios, wherein you must complete tasks such as discovering secret fishing holes, and real time fishing scenarios, wherein you can complete full days of fishing, from morning till evening, and experience the different conditions that correspond with specific times of day. For example, many fish are more active in the morning.
Mark Davis Pro Bass Challenge
Mark Davis Pro Bass Challenge is another one of Natsume’s fishing video games for PS2. However, unlike the highly realistic Reel Fishing III, this game has more of an arcade feel, according to IGN. Players can choose from three modes of play: practice mode, arcade mode and tournament mode. The game also has three levels of difficultly: amateur, semi-pro and professional. Professional bass fisherman Mark Davis offers tips throughout the game, and you can even compete against him in tournament mode. For an added level of authenticity, the fishing tournaments that players compete in follow the official schedules, rules and rating systems that American Bass Fishing Tournaments use.
