How to Remove Scratches From a PS2 Game

When running a Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2) video game it is extremely important to keep the game disc clean and free of scratches. If the game disc does receive scratches it may not function properly, causing the game to skip or crash during playback. To fix this issue you must remove the scratches from the gaming disc with a CD/DVD scratch remover.

CD/DVD repair kit
Damp cloth

Instructions

  Insert the PS2 video game into the CD/DVD scratch remover. These devices are available anywhere CDs and DVDs are sold. The device sands down the scratch, removing it and allowing the PS2 to read the disc.

  Turn the crank handle on the repair kit. This buffs out the scratch. Once complete remove the PS2 disc from the repair kit. Overcranking the repair kit sands down the video game too far, causing further damage.

  Wipe down the game with a damp cloth. This removes any particles on the disc.

  Allow the gaming disc to dry completely, then insert it back into the PlayStation 2 and power the system up to begin playing your game.
