How to Clean a PS2 Disc Without Using Disc Cleaner

The Sony Playstation 2 is a gaming console that was released in 2000. A variety of games can be played on the PS2 including sports, arcade and interactive games. If you find your are getting a disc read error when loading a game in your PS2 it may time to clean the game disc. Dirt and dust accumulate on Playstation 2 discs and can inhibit the discs ability to properly perform. Clean your PS2 discs carefully and with the right products to avoid damaging the disc.

Things You'll Need

Lint-free rag
Rubbing alcohol

Instructions

  Moisten a lint-free rag with a small amount of rubbing alcohol. The cloth should be damp and not soaking wet.

  Hold the disc with your fingers by the rim. Avoid putting your fingers directly onto the surface of the disc.

  Wipe the entire disc with the cloth. Work from the inside part of the disc where the hole is located towards the outer edge. Use a light, sweeping motion and go over the disc a couple of times to thoroughly clean it. Avoid using a circular motion or you risk damaging the disc.

  Let the disc air-dry completely before putting it into the game console.
