PS2 Games for the PS2 Emulator

PlayStation 2 emulators allow PC owners to relive the era of the PlayStation 2, booting up PS2 games in a PC environment to subject them to closer scrutiny. However, some games run better than others. Due to the PS2's complicated internal framework, some games can exhibit game-breaking glitches when emulated. To minimize frustration, it's best to stick to games that are known to work from beginning to end on an emulator.

Final Fantasy X/X-2
- Immensely popular when the PlayStation 2 was launched, "Final Fantasy X" was responsible for selling many consoles as players upgraded just to play the latest game in this long-running franchise. Providing classic "Final Fantasy" style turn-based role-play gaming for the last time before the 11th and 12th episodes reconfigured many of the franchise's elements, "Final Fantasy X" provides a lengthy quest that runs perfectly on emulators. The story is left open-ended, but the sequel, "Final Fantasy X-2," picks up where "X" left off--and also runs perfectly on emulation.
Shin Megami Tensei Series
- The "Shin Megami Tensei" games provide dark, character-intense role-play with an emphasis on youthful protagonists and occult themes. There were five "Shin Megami Tensei" games released on PlayStation 2: "Nocturne," "Persona 3," "Persona 4," "Digital Devil Saga," and "Digital Devil Saga 2." All these games can be emulated on PC; earlier games ran on systems such as the Super Nintendo and original PlayStation, and are also easy to emulate.
Okami and God Hand
- A cult hit among PS2 gamers and often mentioned in the context of "art games," "Okami" tells a story of Japanese folklore through an innovative control scheme that uses the PlayStation 2's controller as a paintbrush. This control scheme survives intact on emulators. The company that produced "Okami," Clover Studios, also made another game for PlayStation 2, the wild west-themed fighter "God Hand." This game is often mentioned in lists of the stranger titles to grace the PlayStation 2, and it can be emulated from beginning to end as well.
Kingdom Hearts
- Made in a partnership between "Final Fantasy" makers Square Enix and the Walt Disney Corporation, "Kingdom Hearts" enlists Hollywood child star Haley Joel Osment to provide vocals for the hero, a stranded orphan named Sora. The game features characters from the "Final Fantasy" games redrawn in a Disney style, and Disney characters such as Donald Duck and the cast of "Alice in Wonderland" as action role-play characters. "Kingdom Hearts" works on emulators, but the sequel, "Chain of Memories," contains glitches that render it unplayable.
