Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
"Marvel: Ultimate Alliance" plays as an action role-playing game, or RPG. This means it contains elements from the action-game genre, such as button-mashing combos and quick-paced combat, as well as elements from the RPG genre, such as leveling up and gaining new abilities. You start with a limited selection of heroes, but you'll unlock more as you progress through the game. Eventually you'll be able to draw from a pool of 23 Marvel heroes, such as Spider-Man, Wolverine and Mr. Fantastic, with a party of four characters on-screen at the same time.
The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction
"The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction" gives you the freedom to fully explore a large city while in the shoes of Bruce Banner in his Hulk form. A system of upgradable attacks lets you purchase new moves so you can pull off such tricks as flattening a truck to use as a shield or throw a car at a group of enemies. When not freely roaming around and causing mayhem, you can select story missions to battle against the Hulk's foes and challenging bosses.
X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse
"X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse" features action RPG gameplay similar to "Marvel: Ultimate Alliance," except it focuses exclusively on the X-Men and the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. You'll be able to play as both sides, because the X-Men make a temporary alliance with the Brotherhood in order to battle the forces of Apocalypse. In total, you'll find 11 playable X-Men and four playable members of the Brotherhood, including Magneto, Juggernaut, Scarlet Witch and Toad.
Marvel vs: Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes
Arcade-style "Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes" pits several of your favorite Marvel heroes and villains against myriad characters from various video games developed by Capcom. In the series' typical style, matches consist of each player choosing three fighters to form a team. The actual combat is one-on-one, and you press a button combo to switch team members in midcombat or perform a combo for a special triple attack. The roster includes the likes of Spider-man, Apocalypse and Capcom such characters as Ryu and Jill Valentine.
