Bass Fishing Duel
Although it won't win any awards for its graphics, "Bass Fishing Duel" still deserves praise for its game play innovations. Close attention is paid to fish habitat and eating habits so that some fish will bite when it's raining at dusk, while others prefer clear midday weather. This gives the game a hint of realism, while still offering players more bites than they'll get in most real-life fishing holes. Players can also choose from a variety of fishers, each with their own statistics and abilities. This gives the game a unique feel for each character, improving replayability. The real innovation behind "Bass Fishing Duel," though, is the two-player mode. Players can go head-to-head with a friend, each vying for the big catch of the day.
Rapala Pro Fishing
"Rapala Pro Fishing" focuses on realism. The developers wanted to accurately replicate real-life locales and fish behavior. They also incorporated several guided tours of prestigious fishing grounds, giving novice fishers a chance to earn their sea legs and familiarize themselves with locales they might someday visit in person.
BASS Strike
In "BASS Strike," the emphasis falls wholly on the tournament. While the other titles also include a tournament mode, the tournament in "BASS Strike" has a depth of game play unique to itself: It carefully melds game play innovation with the realistic simulation of titles "Rapala Pro Fishing." This makes winning the tournament a challenge as the player must master both the fast reflexes needed for an arcade game and the deep-thinking strategies required by simulations.
