Tips on Island 3 in Sims Castaway PS2

The Sims 2: Castaway brings the Sims and their distinctive language, Simlish, to consoles in an island-hopping adventure in which you gather the necessities of survival, construct shelters and build vessels capable of taking you to nearby islands with the goal of eventual rescue. You may need some help figuring out what to do to reach the third island, the Volcano Island.
  1. Volcano Island Beach, Jungle and Geyser Plains

    • Your first priority on reaching Volcano Island should be to build a shelter complete with beds, a fire pit and a home tiki for your crewmates. Should one of your crewmates die, you can resurrect that crewmate by picking the death daisy that grows at that Sim's grave and then use your bamboo crafting bench to create a death daisy potion. Once this is done, you can return to that crewmate's grave and choose the ̶0;Resurrect̶1; option. You should harvest all of the items you can from the starting area before moving on to the Jungle.

After you reach the Jungle, be on the lookout for a hieroglyphic piece as you approach the hot spring. Using the hot spring will also get you a treasure map piece. While you're in this area, you can also get some honeycomb from the beehive, but first you will need to use a torch to smoke out the bees. Otherwise, you will get stung and not receive any honeycomb.

The next area, the Geyser Plains, contains the final hieroglyphic piece, which you can find by a large stone door. Once you pick up this piece, you will receive the plans to craft the Hieroglyphic Stele, which will allow you to open certain doors. Unfortunately, you cannot craft the Hieroglyphic Stele just yet. You can, however, proceed forward to the next area by locating the boulder and using a hammer and chisel on it, which will cause the boulder to fall and cover a geyser, allowing you to proceed to Volcano Overlook.

    Volcano Overlook

    • You may want to consider making this area your new home. In addition to having enough room to build the largest house available in Castaway, there is also space for a garden and chicken coop and plenty of food items to harvest. Also, this area has paths connecting to three other areas: the North Volcano Jungle, the Ancient Stairway and Summit Trail. Take the path to the Ancient Stairway once you are done settling in.

The Llama Temple and Ancient Theater

    • The Ancient Stairway will take you to the Llama Temple, from where you can reach the Ancient Theater. You can harvest items in both areas and perform a ceremonial cliff dive in the Ancient Theater area, which unlocks plans for tribal face paint and clothing dyes. After performing the dive, you will find a piece of the treasure map and you can fish on the shore in order to catch a shark, which will get you another piece of the treasure map. Once you have this second piece, you can swim through a cave, marked by silver feet, in order to reach the Northern Beach and, from there, the Northern Jungle. This will lead you back to Volcano Overlook, from which you should return to and go up the Ancient Stairway to the Llama Temple. This time, enter the Temple itself rather than the Theater.

Once you are inside the Temple, you can repair the Metal Forge, which, once you have found metal ore at the Volcano Summit, will allow you to craft metal tools. After the Metal Forge is repaired, you will be told that a new island has risen near Pier Beach. While you are in this area, you can also find the Llama King's Crown and the Monkey Horn, which can increase your creativity skills. With this done, you can return to Shipwreck Island in order to craft the Hieroglyphic Stele.
