Weapons
There are a few different weapons in "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider: Anniversary" that perform very differently. Strategic use of weapons in the right situation can make fights much easier. The basic dual pistols are decent weapons for any situation. The mini SMGs do not have enough ammo to be useful for clearing normal enemies. A good tip is to reserve these for quickly killing bosses. The shotgun is much better for clearing normal enemies because it conserves ammo well. It takes some practice to get used to the shotgun's slow rate of fire and limited range, but it can help keep your pistol and mini SMG ammo reserved for tougher enemies.
Adrenaline Dodge
Adrenaline dodge is a powerful special move that Lara Croft has that can result in one-hit kills against any normal enemy in the game. It can only activate under a special set of circumstances and requires precise timing. Hold down the "L1" button the PS2 controller to lock on to an enemy. Fire at the enemy to cause it to become enraged, which is indicated by the enemy flashing and running toward you. The entire screen will blur once the enemy closes in. Press the "Circle" button and move in any direction as soon as the screen blurs. Lara will dodge from the enemy in slow motion. Two crosshairs will also appear on the screen and begin to converge. Press the "R1" button as soon as the crosshairs converge and turn red. If you time this properly, you will instantly kill the enemy charging you.
Time Trials
"Lara Croft: Tomb Raider: Anniversary" on the PS2 has a time trial option that unlocks after the game is completed for the first time. The time trial requires replaying a level in the game within a certain time limit. Completing all of the levels in one of the game chapters will unlock cheats that can be used throughout the game. One important tip to remember is that using cheats during time trials does not prevent you from unlocking future cheats. It is a good strategy to use as many cheats as you have available to complete later time trials. As well, it is a good idea to do the Egypt time trials first because the infinite health and infinite mini SMG ammo cheats unlocked by doing so will make every time trial in the game much easier.
