Grand Theft Auto Vice City Motorcycle Tricks

After you've "borrowed" your first motorcycle in "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City" you can either take it to your next destination or perform tricks for points and cash. The smaller nature of motorcycles allows you to pull off jumps and tricks not available when driving a standard car.
  1. Wheelies

    • Speed up down a long stretch of road and gently press the directional pad down. Pressing too hard will flip you off the bike. Once you press, continue to hold the down button and you will be riding on only the back wheel. The longer you hold the wheelie the higher your score.

    Stoppies

    • Hold "X" to speed up and when you've reached your top speed release the button and press "Square," "R1" and "Up" on the directional pad. Your character will lean forward on the bike and lift the back wheel off the ground. Release "R1" if you notice the motorcycle begin to rotate to far to one side.

    Rotation During Jumps

    • To set up a rotation trick when going over a ramp you must begin turning the bike as you reach the end of the ramp. For example, as you near the top hold left on the directional pad while also pressing down. You will lean backwards while shifting in a counterclockwise rotation. Ease up on the "Down" directional pad and continue to hold left to complete a 180 or 360 degree rotation.

    One Wheel Landing

    • When going over a ramp continue to hold "X" to give yourself added time in the air. Gently press "Down" on the directional pad to lead backwards and land on the back wheel of your bike. For a front wheel landing, gently push and hold "Up" on the directional pad.

    Ideal Motorcycles

    • The PCJ 600 and the Sanchez are the lightest bikes in the game making them ideal for jumping and wheelie tricks. Heavier bikes such as the Angel and Freeway are heavier and provide tighter control but are more difficult to jump due to increased mass.

    Locations for Tricks

    • The dirt bike track on the West Island provides ramps and long stretches of terrain ideal for practicing your tricks. The Escobar International Airport features runways that allow you to practice any ground based tricks as well as using the extended road for longer wheelies.
