Starting characters
You start the game with a total of 18 characters. There is, of course, Uzumaki Naruto himself̵2;the title character̵2;and nine allies. There are nine adversaries. As you progress in the game and ultimately win, your feats allow you to access 18 additional ̶0;unlockable̶1; characters with their own sets of allegiances and special abilities, including two special unlockable characters that come to support other characters in their battles.
Good guys
Uzumaki Naruto is a lover of ramen noodles and indefatigable in his readiness to protect those he loves. He has the power of ̶0;Kyuubi̶1; (Ninetales), a divine monster.
Hatake Kakashi is the leader of Naruto̵7;s team and Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke̵7;s sensei (Japanese for teacher). In his left eye is the Sharingan Advanced Bloodline.
Haruno Sakura is the only female ninja on Kakashi̵7;s team and Naruto̵7;s love interest, but she is more interested in Sasuke. Her skills are in Genjutsu and Kinjutsu, and she has Chakra Control.
Uchiha Sasuke is motivated primarily by revenge against his brother Uchiha Itachi, who has killed almost all the other members of the Uchiha clan. He carries the Sharingan Advanced Bloodline.
Hyuuga Hinata is another female warrior, a shy individual who, like the other members of the Hyuuga clan̵7;s main family, carries the Byakugan Advanced Bloodline.
Aburame Shino is from the Aburame clan, whose special ninja power is the control of insects that can live inside them, feeding on their Chakra in exchange for service.
Inuzuka Kiba, like other members of the Inuzuka family, can use animals as ninja tools̵2;in Kiba̵7;s case, his dog, Akamaru. Kiba' style is all about being deadly fast, with Akamaru̵7;s assistance.
Nara Shikamaru just wants to be an average ninja with an average family and income, so he can read and play Shougi, a board game related to chess. His Jutsus (special abilities) are related to shadows, which he can use to control other people.
Akimichi Chouji can eat anything and use that power to grow his body to several times its size to perform attacks. He is Shikamaru̵7;s best friend.
Bad guys
Kazahana Dotou is the main villain in the 2004 Naruto movie.
Yamanaka Ino, like Sakura, is in love with Sasuke, so they are natural rivals. This is not a highly skilled character, but her specialty is poisoning. Her other obsession, aside from Sasuke, is her hair.
Hyuuga Neji is a very skilled ninja, jealous of Hinata because he believes he should be the rightful inheritor of the clan̵7;s leadership.
Rock Lee is a hard worker. He cannot do Ninjutsu or Genjutsu, but he a genius at Taijutsu.
Maito Gai is Lee̵7;s role-model and mentor who practices Hard Work and lives
his life by his own rules, which help him outdo himself over and over again. He is Kakashi's main adversary.
Tenten is one of Gai̵7;s female students. She has use of all ninja weapons and has spectacular aim.
Sabaku no Gaara is sort of Naruto̵7;s evil twin. He is host for a sealed Divine Demon called ̶0;Tanuki̶1; and carries a gourd made of sand that protects him from dangers.
Gaara's brother, Kankurou, uses a doll filled with traps and weapons, called Karasu.
Temari is a girl who wields a large fan to hit people and control the wind.
Unlockable characters
Haku is a boy who can throw needles and perform Ice and Water moves with tremendous speed.
Kyuubi Naruto is another version of the main character, which you get after finishing the game.
Tsunade is appointed Hokage at one point. She̵7;s a medical specialist who can perform Taijutsu, Ninjutsu and Genjutsu techniques, as well as summoning Katsuyu, the Divine Slug.
Shizune follows Tsunade around to learn from her and keep her out of trouble. She can use Genjutsu and Kinjutsu and use needles and poisoning techniques.
Momochi Zabuza is a runaway from the Hidden Mist Village.
Others include ANBU no Kakashi; Fuuinsareta Orochimaru and his right-hand man, Yakushi Kabuto; Itachi̵7;s traveling companion Hoshikage Kisame; another version of Sasuke̵7;s older brother Uchiha Itachi; Sandaime Hokage, Konoha's 3rd Hokage; and Jiraiya and Orochimaru, two of the legendary Sannin.
There are also a pair of special unlockable characters who you encounter after finishing the game and watching the end credits: Konoha no Aoi Majuu Uzumaki Naruto and Souke no Chi ni Mesametta Hyuuga Hinata.
