"Onimusha 3: Demon Siege"
"Onimusha 3" is an action adventure game that takes you to a demon-plagued medieval Japan. Players start by taking control of Samanosuke, who is assaulting power mad Nobunga's fortress. The bodies of both demons and humans dot the landscape. As the fighting ensues, a rift opens and Samanosuke gets sucked in. He ends up in Paris in 2004, and the very same foes that wrecked havoc in Japan are now running amok in the streets of Paris. The game play allows the use of a sword, a gun and magic. Skills are powered up by taking the souls of vanquished enemies. Mashing buttons in certain sequences allows for certain combos. Players will also take control of other characters as the story progresses. The game was released March 16, 2006, in Japan.
"Nightshade"
"Nightshade" is related to the very old yet well remembered Sega game "Shinobi." In fact, its name Kunoichi is the female counterpart to a Shinobi. "Nightshade" allows players to control a female ninja bent on destroying the Nakatomi corporation. Their crime was releasing various types of hell spawn in a futuristic Tokyo. The 12 stages in the game are difficult and rely heavily on timing and skill if you wish to pass them. Some of the bosses include your mentor, a ninja cyborg and various types of monsters. The main character can jump, slash, dash and run on walls. Utilizing these various skills is key to getting through the game. "Nightshade" was released Feb. 10, 2004.
"Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven"
"Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven" is the third installment of this stealth action series. Players can choose to play either a male or female ninja. The male is a more power-based character with heavier attacks while the female is greasy quick and has chain attacks. One highlight of the game is the fact that any non-boss character can be killed in one blow assuming you successfully sneak up on them. If not, a normal real time fight takes place. Your arsenal includes poison rice balls, ninja stars and mind control devices. Zombies, mad Buddhist monks, evil samurai and demons are just some of the foes you must contend with. "Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven" came out March 3, 2003.
