How to Delete PS2 Memory Card Profiles

Every profile or game you save creates a new slot on your Sony PlayStation 2 memory card. Over time the memory card fills up and no more games can be saved until you either buy a new memory card or clear out data from the old one. Deleting old game profiles you never use is the cheapest, quickest way to free up space. In a few minutes you'll have more room on your card, allowing you to save your favorite games again.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove any game discs from the tray and turn on the PlayStation 2. Without a game in it, the Playstation should go to the menu screen. Select "Browser" by pressing the "X" button to access your memory card.

    • 2

Choose the memory card you need to erase. Use the arrows on your PS2 controller to select the memory card picture and press "X." If you click the wrong one, press "O" to go back to the previous screen.

    • 3

Scroll through the game profiles with the arrow keys. Select the game or other profile you want to delete and press "X." A screen will appear giving you details about the name of the save file and how much space it currently takes up on the memory card.

    • 4

Select the "Delete" option and press "X." After the game has been deleted, press "O" to return to the list. Repeat these for all items you want to erase from the memory card. After you are finished, you can turn off your PlayStation 2.
