Teams
Whether you want to take your alma mater to the Rose Bowl, or just want to enjoy the game play, choosing the team is paramount to achieving your goals. Each team is rated in a number of categories, so you can see how they stack up against the rest of the NCAA programs.
Offense or Defense
When determining which team to play with, you will want to consider your playing style. If you are more offensive minded, then taking a team such as USC, an offensive juggernaut, would be a good choice. If you prefer to play solid defense, then Wisconsin or LSU would fit that style.
If you want to use a specific team that does not dovetail with your playing style, you can mold the team in your image over the course of a few seasons in Dynasty mode by using the recruiting feature to sign players that suit your needs. You can also use the "create a player" feature to create customized players to fill gaps.
Know Your Opponent
You can scout your opponents, just like real coaches do. You can analyze opponents simply examining the other team's stats and rankings.
Once you know them, game plan accordingly. If you are facing the top-ranked run defense, but the team ranks 25th against the pass, you are better off employing an aerial attack. Make the same necessary adjustments to foil the other team's offense.
Strengths
Know your team's strengths and play to them. Just as you will game plan to take advantage of the other team's weaknesses, you also need to play accordingly in order to cover up your own. If your team is built for a passing attack, familiarize yourself with every passing play in your play book and use them all at the appropriate times. Try to avoid calling the same plays repeatedly, as the game engine will pick up on your tendencies and call opposing plays designed to stop your attack.
