Heroes Of The Pacific
Return to the days of WWII where the United States Navy and Army Air Corps fought tooth and nail with the Japanese for supremacy of the world̵7;s largest ocean. With Ubisoft̵7;s Heroes of the Pacific you take the stick of 35 different planes and fly off on 26 different air combat missions based on actual events from WWII. While not a true flight simulator, Heroes of the Pacific still delivers solid video game action for anyone seeking air combat.
Ace Combat Five
IGN dubbed Ace Combat Five: the Unsung War, the ̶0;best console flight action game in town̶1; and with over one million units sold, fans of air combat games agree. The Ace Combat story takes place in an alternate reality during a war between two fictional countries. While the premise is purely fantasy, the planes, game play and action are distinctly based on real world technology and scenarios. Characterized by its easy to use flight controls, jaw dropping graphics and frenzied missions, the Ace Combat series has been a hit since its inception on the PS1. Ace Combat Five ups the ante and takes air jockeys to dizzying new heights with the Hori Flightstick 2, a new controller designed specifically for this game.
Ace Combat Zero
Following up on the success of Ace Combat Five, Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War brings new missions and new planes to the Ace Combat franchise. Take control of an F-15 Eagle to gun down enemy fighters, or hop into an YF-23 strike fighter to bring your assault to ground and sea-based targets. While not radically upgraded from Ace Combat Five, Zero will give Ace Combat fans something to fly until they grab hold of a PS3.
Heatseeker
The same development team that created Heroes of the Pacific brings you Heatseeker. Heatseeker brings the flight action of the WWII Heroes of the Pacific into the modern age, giving you control of the F-15, F-16, F/A-18 and F-22 among others. As with the other games on this list, Heatseeker is more of an arcade styled flight action game than a true flight simulator, but can still be enjoyed by those who seek the thrill of high speed and high altitude combat.
