Social Links
̶0;Persona 3̶1; splits your time between exploring the multilevel dungeon of Tartarus and navigating the treacherous waters of High School. Taking place over the course of a year, your goal outside of battling monsters is to develop relationships with your classmates. Each new relationship formed comes with a Social Link. These links are represented by cards of the Arcana, such as Tower, Star, Empress and Lover. Begin your Social Links by first talking to every student you come across. Answer their questions with polite answers and invite them to hang out with you. As soon as a link is formed, the name of the link will be displayed on the game screen. Write down the name of the link and the student whom you have formed it with. When you open your Persona menu you'll notice that some of your demons will have the same Arcana as the links you have formed. The stronger the link, the more powerful your demons, and the more powerful Persona that you can fuse together.
The worst mistake you can make outside of ignoring Social Links is to have one of your links reversed. This can occur by breaking up with girlfriends, or treating your friends poorly. Always avoid doing this as a reversed social link will mean your Persona will become weakened. To keep your links strong, spend time with or chat with each friend at least once during the week.
Tartarus Progression
There is one dungeon in ̶0;Persona 3̶1; and your goal is to make it to the very top floor. Unfortunately, you can't spend countless hours grinding levels and capturing demons because the members of your party will become fatigued. When a party member starts to feel tired, leave the dungeon. Pressing on will cause him to either leave the dungeon or grow sick and be unable to make a return trip, setting your progress back several in-game days. Speak with Mitsuro at the entrance of Tartarus during each visit to learn the progress you must make before the next full moon. Pace yourself and try to progress at least two to three floors each trip. On days when your team members are not willing to venture into the dungeon, work on your Social Links. These links will ease your way through the dungeon and the burden on your party as you will have access to more powerful Persona.
Fusion
Visit the Velvet Room often to fuse your Persona together for new demons. At the end of each battle you will have the option to capture a demon card. Even if you already possess that Persona, capture it again. When you return to the Velvet Room you can use this demon as an ingredient in your fusion. Remember that you'll be given bonuses if you have a Social Link in the same Arcana as your Persona, so creating Persona that are compatible with your character is vital. Don't be afraid to get rid of your favorite Persona if it means a more powerful fusion. For example, your starting Persona, Orpheus, can be used to create the Level 76 Susa-no-O when combined with Legion, Ose, Black Frost and Loki. Take note that you must be at the same level or higher as the Persona you wish to create or the fusion cannot take place.
