"Dynasty Warriors 3: Xtreme Legends" is an expanded version of the original "Dynasty Warriors 3." For gamers who own both copies of the game, you can link up the two to gain an advantage in the expanded game. When you begin a game in "Xtreme Legends," insert a memory card into your PS2 that has data from the original "Dynasty Warriors 3." The data will be read by Xtreme Legends and you will gain access to all unlocked characters, weapons and stages from the original game.
"Xtreme Legends" also gives you the option to trade in your eight bodyguards on the battlefield for one of the game's protagonists. While it may seem like you'll be at a disadvantage trading eight for one, this will allow you to perform a powerful double musou attack, clearing your immediate area of enemies.
Unlockables
If you're tired of looking at your favorite character in "Dynasty Warriors" always wearing the same costume, you can unlock bonus duds after finishing each warrior's Musou mode. Once you've completed the mode, highlight the warrior and hold down "L2" or "R2" to change his costume. Unfortunately, you'll need to do this with each character.
If you're looking to spend your combat time on the back of one of the game's several animals, you can unlock the "Beast Harness." This will allow you to always know where your last mount is located on the battlefield. In order to unlock this piece of equipment, you will need to finish Speed Demon mode in under 90 seconds. Complete this task by choosing a warrior who is quick on his feet because he will need to cross the battlefield quickly. Don't get bogged down in fights; just keep moving forward.
Fourth Weapon
Each character in "Dynasty Warriors" features a powerful fourth weapon that can only be obtained through completing a specific battle on the hardest difficulty. There is a trick to bypassing much of the headaches that can be caused during this hard fight. Start by beginning the game on the hardest difficulty. As soon as you can save, do so and quit the game. Adjust the difficulty setting down to easy and proceed to play through the game. As you reach the final boss to obtain your fourth weapon, save and quit the game. Readjust the difficulty back up to hard and re-enter the stage. You'll face off against the boss, who, once defeated, will allow you to use your fourth weapon.
