Polar Express Game Hints

Blue Tongue released the Polar Express video game for PlayStation 2 and GameCube in 2004. The game is based on the film by Robert Zemeckis, which in turn is based on the award-winning novel by Chris Van Allsburg. The game puts players in control of the Hero Boy as he traverses the Polar Express and battles Scrooge's minions.
  1. Tips For Exploring the Polar Express

    • The object of the game is to traverse the Polar Express and complete tasks that reward you with train tickets. Along the way you will fight puppets, battle Scrooge and steer train cars.

Keep any eye out for any collectible items. Gold coins are littered throughout the game, and if you collect 20 of them you will be rewarded with an extra life. Also keep an eye out for toy parts. Most levels have toy parts that are hidden in secret corners of the rooms. If you assemble a full toy, you will be rewarded with a bonus game. Explore every inch of the game to find all the toy parts.

Certain sections of the game require you to enter a rhythm sequence. Watch the button combinations displayed onscreen and press them in time with the music.

When you take control of the runaway train car, use the left analog stick to lean the car to the left or right to avoid obstacles. Press the "Jump" button to brake and press the "Duck" button to accelerate. Keep the train going as fast as you can without hitting any objects.

    Tips For Fighting Scrooge's Minions

    • Use the "Action" button to fight any angry toys you come across but be careful to avoid any objects that the toys might throw. Watch the toy's attack pattern before approaching it. You can duck under flying objects with the "Duck" button, or jump over them with the "Jump" button.

To throw an object, first use the "Action" button to pick it up. A transparent green arc will show the objects trajectory. Adjust the trajectory with the left analog stick and throw the object with the "Action" button. To push or pull an object, stand next to it and press the "Push" button. If you are stuck, try pushing an object out of your way.

When fighting Scrooge, avoid his shock waves by running to the far end of the car. When he stops pounding the ground, pick up a snowball from the snow pile and throw it at his head. Pick up another snowball, wait for him to reveal his gold heart and hit it with the snowball. Repeat this process until you have beaten him.
