Unlock her. To play Okuni, you must play through Kenshi Uesugi's story mode. This will unlock Keiji Maeda.
Play through Keiji Maeda's story mode to unlock Okuni.
Its all about style. Okuni's moves aren't designed to take people out in a single hit. In fact, most of her moves are a bit on the weak side. They are good for crowd control and slowly but surely whittling away at bigger opponents. Do not expect to defeat anyone instantly, especially on higher difficulty levels.
Swing it! Okuni's first charge and musou attacks are good for clearing large groups since she spins her umbrella in a huge circle. The trick is to beat back the mob a little first, then pop the moves since both have a tendency to miss enemies that are in close.
Watch your back. Okuni has lots of moves that either require a charge time or cause her to spin around. While this is good for knocking down lots of enemies, it does leave you open to an enterprising bad guy with a breaker move and a bad heart. Be careful using charge attacks in big mobs.
Watch for arrows. Okuni is one of the best characters to deflect arrows since most of her charge attacks can deflect them even if she isn't facing them. Just be careful to use the attacks that don't require a charge time or Okuni will turn into a pincushion pretty quickly.
Escape! Okuni has one of the coolest moves in the game. Jump up and press the jump button again, and you'll see what I mean. This move can be used to escape from a particularly nasty mob, but beware that some enemies may jump at you, and there is a short time at the end when she closes her umbrella that leaves you vulnerable. But it's just too cool to resist!
Complete those missions. If you complete enough missions, Okuni has more ending movies than anyone else! In fact, if you play your cards right, she has an ending movie with every other character.
Consider a horse. Okuni is pretty fast, but can have some speed issues on larger or more complex maps. If you find yourself lagging behind, equip her with a horse and do away with those tengu sandals.
Defense, defense! Okuni is a bit of a fragile character. A couple of hits from a Strike Ninja and she won't be feeling too good. Equip Himoko's Rune for extra insurance against heavy hitting opponents.
