Tips and Tricks for the Orphanage Mission in Dukes of Hazzard on PlayStation 2

One of the last missions in the PlayStation 2 (PS2) game "Dukes of Hazzard: Return of the General Lee" involves the Duke brothers winning a race to save the town's orphanage. Just like the other races in the game, players use shortcuts and hit big jumps to earn extra points and cash. The key in the orphanage mission to know the good jump locations and succeed in winning the race.
  1. Jumps

    • Jump over the broken bridge early in the race. The bridge is on the left side. Jump over it and successfully land on the other side to get the bonus. Look for other jumps on the sides of the road. Anything that slightly rises will most likely be a jump worth points. Keep the car as straight as possible during the drive up to the jump to have the most control and speed.

    Police

    • Drive behind the large, wooden billboards. You will find short cuts and can evade police during points in the race if needed. Make sure the car is completely behind the billboard or you will still get caught by the police. Once the police leave, reverse and continue on the road. When you are not in a race, do a 180-degree spin and go in the opposite direction to avoid police faster.

    Car Control

    • The orphanage mission features a lot of curvy roads and turns. Use the analog sticks to guide the car. When you press the D-pad on the PS2 controller, the turns and curves are taken much sharper. Let go of the gas as you head into the turn, slightly press the analog stick in the direction you want to turn and then press it down hard when you want to turn fast. This will result in smooth, fast turns without too much loss in speed.

    Hidden Items

    • Look around for hidden items. Follow any off road trails and access other areas. For example, in the orphanage mission, there is a large coal pit. Drive down to the bottom of the pit to find a collection of dynamite and a key.
