How to Beat Kornell in Grandia 3

Kornell is a muscular army commander and one of the main antagonists in "Grandia III" for Sony's PlayStation 2. He is a boss character, and directly engages your party on three separate occasions, though the first battle is just an extended tutorial session and easy to beat. The next two battles get progressively more difficult, culminating with a no-holds-barred brawl in the Baccula Ruins. Kornell will remain a principle antagonist after this battle, but you won't have to face him directly in battle again.

Instructions

  1. The Anfog Woods Battle

    • 1

Have Miranda use her "Diggin'" ability to bolster your party's defense, then use her "Tremor" ability to damage all the enemies on screen.

    • 2

Have Alfina cast "Howl" on the two Henchman enemies alongside Yuki's "Howl" or "Whirlwind" techniques until the henchmen die off.

    • 3

Focus on casting "Whirlwind" with Yuki and "Force Slash" with Miranda once the two henchmen die off. This will damage both Kornell and his Iron Fist sidekick.

    • 4

Cast Alfina's "Crackle" spell on Kornell himself to cause massive damage.

    • 5

Keep your party as fully healed as possible during this battle, as Kornell has a special attack called "Kornell Buster" that will cause massive damage to your entire party.

    • 6

Use area-effect attack items like Cherry Bomb to damage Kornell and his Iron Fist. Continue with this process until you defeat him.

    The Baccula Ruins Fight

    • 7

Use the Drak's Orb as soon as the fight starts. This will cause heavy fire damage to all the enemies on screen.

    • 8

Have one of your party members cast "Diggin'" immediately after the Drak's Orb to raise your party's defense.

    • 9

Concentrate your attacks on one enemy at a time. Use Yuki's "Dragon Slash" if he has it and have Dahna and Alfina cast their strongest magic attacks on the enemy you've singled out. Ulf can use any of his attacks to great effect.

    • 10

Keep your party healed throughout the battle. All four enemies have powerful attacks that can decimate your party if caught unprepared.
