Select Brillia from the world map. Go to the mountain training area and battle with your rivals to pass the time. After a few in-game weeks, your helper, Maya, comes to you and says she was attacked by a strange monster.
Wait a week or two more. At random, the Brillia Henger monster will appear to attack you. This monster is fairly weak, so defeat it using any desired attacks. The monster reappears again in a few more weeks; defeat it in the same way as before.
Continue training until one of your rivals, Gadamon, appears with the Henger by her side. Defeat it as usual. Gadamon mentions that a scientist created the Henger for her, then leaves.
Wait one or two more weeks for a mad scientist to appear. He has a Zan with him. Defeat the Zan in battle and the scientist gives you a Zan disk. This disk allows you to revive a Zan from certain CDs or DVDs.
Go to any town and select the Shrine. Speak to Grandpa Bragma to give him the Zan disk. He tells you that you can now unlock a Zan.
Tell Grandpa Bragma that you want to make a new monster. Press the "Eject" button on the front of the PlayStation 2 when you are prompted to do so. Remove the "Monster Rancher 3" disc.
Insert a CD or DVD that unlocks Zan. Discs that unlock Zan include "The Matrix" DVD, "Fight Club" DVD, "Men in Black Soundtrack" CD, "Millennium Love Songs" CD, "Crash Test Dummies: God Shuffled His Feet" CD and the "Resident Evil: Code Veronica X" game demo. The "Tenchu 2" and "Dead or Alive 2" games unlock a special Zan named Izuna.
Press the "X" button to close the disc tray. At the prompt, eject the tray and replace the "Monster Rancher 3" disc. Press "X." A Zan is created and added to your team.
