How to Update Gameshark Disc

The Gameshark software for the Playstaion 2 (PS2) comes with hundreds of codes for dozens of games, but it does not include updated codes or codes for new games. There are multiple ways to update new codes and keep them saved on the Gameshark. The codes can be manually updated even if you do not have a broadband connection attached to your PS2 console. The updates work for every version of the Gameshark for PS2 consoles.

Instructions

Broadband Connection Update

  Insert the Gameshark disc and load the main Gameshark menu.

  Use the D-pad to scroll down and select "Broadband Connection." Wait for the internet to connect and establish a connection with the Gameshark network.

  Scroll down and press "X" on the "Update" icon. Select the newest update from the top of the list. Press "X" to confirm the download. Make sure the memory card is properly inserted and do not remove it during the download.

  Go back to the main menu and click "X" on the "Game List." All of the new and updated games will appear in blue. Scroll through them to see all the updates.

  Repeat this process every couple of weeks to see if any new codes are added.
Manual Updating

  Enter the game list from the main menu of the Gameshark.

  Press "Circle" to add a new game to the Gameshark. Visit the official Gameshark website to find codes for games. Click on the "Codes" icon to see an alphabetical list.

  Type the game title you want to add codes to. Enter the "Master Code." This code is mandatory for every game or the cheats will not work.

  Press "Circle" to add a new cheat. Type the cheat name, press "X" to confirm it and then type the cheat code. Repeat this for any additional cheats.

  Return to the game list and press "Square" on a highlighted game to add a cheat for that game. This allows you to add new cheats to new games already on the Gameshark.
