How to Get the Feather of the Flock in FF12

In "Final Fantasy XII," marks are optional side quests that reward you with rare items. In one quest, you are asked to find the Feather of the Flock, a special feather that allows you to communicate with large, chicken-like creatures called Cockatrices. To get the Feather of the Flock, you must travel to the Giza Plains during the rainy season. Once you have the feather, talking to Cockatrices around the world will allow you to obtain secrets and learn the locations of hidden items.

Instructions

  Enter any tavern and read the information board on the wall. Accept the "Paradise Risen" mark when it appears. You may need to complete a few other marks before this one will appear.

  Find a red save crystal. These are found throughout every city and area in the game. Press "X" to use it and then select "Giza Plains" as your travel destination. Wait for the rainy season to begin if it is not already raining. The dry season lasts for two hours, after which it will rain for one hour.

  Go to the flooded river in the center of the Giza Plains and walk up to one of the dead trees along its banks, directly in front of where you entered the area. Press "X" to knock the tree into the water. Repeat this with the other five trees along the bank to form a bridge.

  Cross the bridge to get the next island, named "Tracks of the Beast." Defeat the giant Rocktoise in the area if you want to complete the Paradise Risen mark. The Rocktoise wanders around this area randomly, so it does not have a fixed position. Because of its large size, however, it is very difficult to miss.

  Go to the southeast corner of the island. Examine the urn next to the patches of grass and the rocks to get the Feather of the Flock.
