How to Defeat the Large Hydra in God of War

Fight one of the two small hydras. The small hydra will either whip its head back before biting Kratos, or it will pause for a few seconds and roar before quickly moving its head in circle, which inflicts damage if you're in the area. Anticipate and defend against these attacks. Then, inflict as much damage as you can and immediately defend as soon as it tries to attack again. Do this until the hydra falls.

Climb up the stack of crates beside the fallen hydra until you reach the top.

Jump on the suspended platform beside the stack of crates. The platform will fall and the anchor that is attached to its bottom will impale the small hydra. Do this quickly -- if you wait too long, the small hydra will revive and its life bar will refill.

Eliminate the remaining small hydra using the method described in steps 1 through 3.

Climb up to the top of the platform between the two impaled hydras to reach the large hydra.

Fight the large hydra. It has two main attacks: a weak bite that affects a small area on the front side of the platform and a strong bite that affects a large area on either side of the platform. The large hydra will rear its head before it bites -- look for that motion so you can anticipate its attack. When the hydra bites into the platform, you'll have a small window of time to attack it. After you inflict enough damage, a "Circle" button icon will appear on top of its head.

Press the "Circle" button to start the mini-game sequence. Kratos will grab the large hydra with both of his weapons. A prompt showing the "Circle" button being repeatedly pressed will appear.

Tap the circle button quickly to win the mini-game. If you succeed, Kratos will smash the hydra's head on the pole in the center of the platform. The hydra's life bar will refill.

Continue to fight the large hydra and win the mini-game two more times. The pole in the middle of the platform will split, exposing a sharp point.

Fight the hydra one last time until the "Circle" button icon appears on top of its head.

Press the "Circle" button to start the final mini-game. Kratos will jump on the large hydra's head. The "Circle" button icon will appear on the screen once again.

Press the "Circle" button. Kratos will jump from the hydra's head and grab it with both of his weapons. The prompt showing the "Circle" button being repeatedly pressed will appear once again.

Tap the circle button quickly to win the last mini-game. Kratos will impale the large hydra on the pole, killing it.
