How to Build the Final Boat in The Sims 2: Castaway

In "The Sims 2: Castaway" for PlayStation 2, you play as a Sim character that has been marooned on a tropical island. To survive the experience you must build a boat to travel to other islands to find supplies and eventually make your way home. Three boats are available: a raft, a canoe and a catamaran. The raft and canoe are used to travel between islands, while building the catamaran gives you the option to escape, thus completing the game.

Instructions

    • 1

Complete all of the story lines and goals before unlocking the option to build a catamaran. Building the final boat is the last mission for the game and will not be available until all other goals have been achieved.

    • 2

Collect the raw materials needed to build the catamaran. Your Sim needs a metal axe in addition to 15 Rope, 30 Sandalwood and 50 each of Softwood and Hardwood. Cotton is found on the plains. You can harvest Softwood, Sandalwood and Hardwood from the trees growing on each island. Rope is crafted at crafting benches using Sisal, which is found in the plains and other areas like Volcano Summat.

    • 3

Increase your Sim's Body skill until it has reached the maximum level at 10 Body points. The Body skill is increased whenever you harvest non-food items, such as the materials needed to build the catamaran. If you have collected all the items needed but your Sim has not reached Body Level 10, continue to harvest until that time.

Travel to North Volcano Beach and walk to the Ancient Pier. Select the option "Build Catamaran." When the boat is complete you can use it to escape the island and complete the game, or stay on the island and play indefinitely.
