What Are the Different Singstars Games for PS2?

Developed by London Studio, "SingStar" is a karaoke video game series released for the PlayStation 2. Singing into microphones that connect to the PlayStation 2, players attempt to match their pitch to an onscreen, color-coded bar system that scores how well each players sings. Multiple versions of "SingStar" have been released for the PlayStation 2 that will appeal to a wide selection of musical tastes.
  1. "SingStar Legends"

    • Released in 2008, "SingStar Legends" gives players the opportunity to sing along with some of the most popular songs ever released. "Legends" playlist includes songs by Elvis, Johnny Cash, Elton John, David Bowie, Ella Fitzgerald and Biz Markie. "Legends" includes several game play modes that allow gamers to sing solo, duet with a friend or battle it out for the top score. Internet Gaming News gave "Legends" an average review, commenting that the game's graphics looked fuzzy, but scored the game a 7.5 out of 10 due to the outstanding collection of classic songs.

    "SingStar '80s"

    • "SingStar '80s" gives fans of the series a familiar presentation and game play, while giving players the opportunity to sing some of their favorite songs from the 1980s. "SingStar '80s" playlist includes songs from Madonna, Blondie, Flock of Seagulls, Survivor, Europe, Alice Cooper and Culture Club. "SingStar '80s" offers gamers a number of competitive games for between two and eight players, and is described as a great party game by Gamespot.com.

    "SingStar '90s"

    • "SingStar '90s" introduces a rap game meter into the series that allow players to sing popular '90s tunes, such as Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby" and Sir Mix A Lot's "Baby Got Back." "SingStar '90's" rap meter requires players to match tempo instead of tone when singing along. The game also features songs by Soundgarden, Spin Doctors, Stone Temple Pilots, The Cranberries and Nirvana. Game Zone.com's review called "SingStar '90s" a disappointment because of the game's choice of songs, noting that some of the decades biggest hits are absent from the game's track list.

    "SingStar Country"

    • With "SingStar Country," fans of the series get the same game play as previous entries into the series, but this time fans of country music get their chance to shine behind the mic. "SingStar Country" features such contemporary artists as Jessica Simpson, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney and Martina McBride, and classic country artists such as Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson.
