Different Sony PlayStation 2 Rockband Games

From Alan Jackson to The Who, the library of songs available for the Rock Band game on the Sony PlayStation 2 number in the hundreds. The first two titles in the Rock Band series -- "Rock Band" and "Rock Band 2" -- were both released on this home video game console, as well as several track packs in different genres to appeal to a wide range of musical tastes.
  1. Rock Band

    • The first music game to let players virtually form a full four-player group, Rock Band came packaged with a guitar, drum set and microphone. This 2007 title offered 58 tracks from artists in classic rock, alternative and heavy metal. Players could form their band in their living room and go online to complete against peers around the world. Each player chooses an instrument and must hit or sing notes in time with visual representations of those notes as they scroll on the screen. The better the band performs, the higher the score the group will achieve.

    AC/DC Live: Rock Band Track Pack

    • The top Aussie group lent its name -- and 18 songs -- to AC/DC Live: Rock Band Track Pack. As the title suggests, all of these master recording are from live performances and feature the band's greatest hits, from "She Shook Me All Night Long" to "Hell's Bells." The songs offer about 100 minutes of play for each instrument: guitar, drums and microphone.

    Rock Band 2

    • The second installment of Rock Band on the PlayStation 2 added the World Tour mode, which allows your band to play gigs in various venues around the world. Casual gamers can turn on the No Fail mode, which prevents them from failing a song. You can build set lists this time in the Quick Play mode instead of having to pick songs one at a time. This 2008 game includes 84 new tracks from a mix of artists such as Beastie Boys, The Who and Beck.

    Miscellaneous Track Packs

    • Publisher MTV Games also released track packs that work with both "Rock Band" and "Rock Band 2" in the genres of country, classic rock and metal to appeal to a wide range of gamers. Each features about 20 songs and sell for a lower price than the main Rock Band games. The metal track pack includes such artists as Godsmack and Judas Priest, while the country game includes songs by Kenny Chesney and Rascal Flatts. Rock out to bands like Rush and Boston in the classic rock pack.
