The game's NFL Superstar mode allows you to design and control your own individual player, with a range of customization options including intelligence and lineage. To create a superstar cornerback, you'll want to gear your selections toward a defensive back to optimize his necessary skills. Once you've finished creating your player, you can control him on and off the field throughout his NFL career.

  Enter the NFL Superstar mode from the game's main menu.

  Cycle through the different sets of parents. Look for a father with a history as a defensive back, preferably as a former NFL player. This will boost your created player's attributes in the key areas. On the mother's side, speed is always helpful, so a former track star would be an appropriate fit for your cornerback as well. You can scroll through the pairings of parents as many times as necessary to achieve a beneficial match.

  Adjust your player's appearance and equipment. A bar at the bottom of the screen will track your appearance rating. Maximizing this rating can lead to endorsements and movie offers later on in your career.

  Complete the interviews and IQ test on your schedule. The answers you give will be a determining factor in your player's personality.

  Select an agent. Some won't be willing to work with you yet, but you can always change agents after you gain experience and notoriety on the football field.
