Offense: Passing Plays
To increase the accuracy of your throws, make sure your quarterback's feet are planted before he throws the ball. Throwing on the run can result in an increased rate of incompletions or interceptions. If you have to throw on the move, try a lob pass. This may give your receiver some extra time to get into position. Always take a look at the opposing team before you snap the ball. If the defense is lined up in a nickel or dime formation with extra defensive backs, they're probably expecting a pass. You may increase your chances of success by calling an audible and changing the play.
Offense: Running Plays
Patience is a virtue in the running game, so don't hit the sprint button too early. Give the play time to develop by allowing your blockers to clear some room. When you encounter a tackler, use a well-timed spin or juke move to evade him. You can also use the right analog stick to perform a highlight move, but this will increase your odds of fumbling the ball. Reading the defense is also important on running plays, so check the other team's formation before you snap the ball. If there are extra defenders stacked on the side you intend to run, you'll need to adjust the play. Send an additional blocker to that side or switch the direction of the run.
Defense
In "Madden NFL '07," it may be tempting to overlook defense in favor of its flashier counterpart. If you want to be successful, you've got to have a grasp of formations on both sides of the ball. Select your defense based on the game situation. If it's third and long, opt for a dime or quarters formation. A 3-4 or 4-3 set will give you better odds against a run or short pass. Keep in mind that every defensive formation has its own strengths and weaknesses, so be prepared to audible into a different set if the offense doesn't match up to your personnel.
Special Teams: Punting and Kicking
In the long run, it's more advantageous to punt or kick a field goal instead of trying for a high-risk Hail Mary pass. If you're in field goal range on third and long, you'll have a better chance of scoring by calling a run play or short pass to the middle of the field. This will give your kicker a straight shot at a field goal. If you're too far away to try a field goal and have to punt, use the right analog stick to angle the punt toward the pylons of the end zone. With practice, you can get the ball to bounce out of bounds near the end zone and gain a field-position advantage.
Easy Madden Tokens
Like other entries in the "Madden" franchise, "Madden NFL '07" features performance-based tokens you can use to buy packs of virtual football cards. An easy way to stock up on tokens is to set the game's difficulty to "All-Madden." Then, in the AI settings menu, set the human stats to maximum and the CPU stats to the lowest level. Set the quarters to five minutes and then play a game against the computer using a team with a good running back, such as Denver, Seattle or Washington. Although it will still be difficult to pass using these settings, you should be able to gain more than 500 rushing yards and 700 Madden Tokens per game.
Madden Card Codes
On the "Madden Cards" screen, you can select "Madden Codes" and input codes that will unlock special cheat cards. For the Lame Duck cheat, input "5LAWO0". Playing this card during a game will cause your opponent to throw lob passes for one half. For the Mistake Free cheat, input "XL7SP1". When you play this card, you can't fumble or throw interceptions for one half. For the QB on Target cheat, input "WROA0R". If you play this card during a game, your QB accuracy will be 100 percent for one half.
