How to Play PS2 Copies

It may not be easy, but it is possible to play burned copies of PlayStation 2 games. The PS2 does not normally read burned CDs. But there are ways around that. With the Gameshark loaded it is possible to bypass the normal load functions. The only real difficulty lies in the timing of placing the copies Playstation 2 disc in the disc tray.The key is to switch the discs without the PS2 knowing it. With practice you can complete this process with ease.

  • Gameshark 2 disc
  • Gameshark memory card

Instructions

    • 1

      Snap off the front of the game drive with your fingers. This is the outer casing of the PS2. Running your fingers along the seam will help you locate what you need to separate the casing from the system. This will give you easier access to the game (disc) tray.

      Turn on the PS2.

      Eject the tray.

      Insert the Gameshark 2 disc. Ensure that the gameshark memory card is connected to one of the slots.

      Click "Start Game" from the Gameshark options menu. The menu will now tell you to insert the PS2 game and press "X" to continue. Do not press eject on the PS2.

      Use a credit card to push the white tab to the right, releasing the tray.

      Manually pull the disc tray out.

      Swap out the Gamshark 2 disc for the burned PS2 game.

      Push the disc tray back into the PS2.

      Pull the white tab all the way back to the left with a credit card to reconnect the disc tray.

      Press "X" on the game controller. The game should load if this process was done correctly. If the game does not load, repeat the steps.
