How to Obtain an Alternate Ending to Shadow of the Colossus

"Shadow of the Colossus" on PlayStation 2 follows a character named Wander as he tries to defeat enemies called the Colossi. In the normal ending, a spirit character named Dormin is thought to have been killed by a shot from a crossbow. He survives because Wander has killed all 16 Colossi. If Wander goes on to kill a 17th Colossi, and eat a special fruit from a secret garden, this ending will change.

Instructions

  Complete all four game modes, then start the story mode again.

  Use the left analog stick to climb to the secret garden in the first temple. Follow the ivy trail inside until you come to a ledge. Follow the ledge until you find another just to the right of it. Climb it.

  Jump over to the column covered in ivy. Follow the path at the bottom of the column. Go down the stairs and take the left walkway at the bottom. The new Colossi will appear. Use the "square" button to climb up it and stab it in the head. Once the Colossi is defeated, a path to the top of the temple in front of you, which houses the secret garden, will appear. Eat the fruit from the trees in the garden.

  Complete the rest of the journey. In the new ending, Dormin will be killed by the crossbow.
