Choose manual transmission rather than automatic so you benefit from greater control, faster acceleration and better braking. While perhaps difficult at first, by manually shifting up and down gears, your car enjoys greater traction control and suffers less wear and tear.
Conquer corners by taking them tightly and following the correct racing line. Brake smoothly well in advance and accelerate fast while making sure your car doesn't lose traction and avoids sliding toward the edge of the circuit.
Master the art of drifting which involves sliding the car around corners at speed by touching the throttle and brakes while turning the steering wheel in the opposite direction to the car's drift. You can use the handbrake rather than the pedal brakes if you wish. While requiring a lot of practice, drifting will give you a crucial advantage during races.
Gain driver points and money easily by playing "Need for Speed: Shift" in "Quick Race" mode. Choose "Drift Mode," "0 Opponents," "15 Laps" and the circuit as "22 Mile Oval Track." Because the track is so small you should qualify for a double time and money bonus. Alternatively, while still in "Quick Race" mode, choose "Race mode," "15 opponents," "20 laps" and the circuit "Hazyview Eight" to gain points easily.
