Cheat Mode
To access "Cheat Mode," select "Options" from the main menu, then select "Cheat Codes." You will be taken to a character-input screen. Here, you can type "GOLDKEY" to unlock every story-mode mission. You can also enter "SLVERKEY" to unlock every event in "Arcade Mode." To unlock all of Lightning McQueen's friends as a playable racers, including Chick Hicks, enter "EVRYBDY." And for all the paint jobs available for every racer, enter "CARSHOW."
Lightning McQueen Mods
Because of the varied nature of each racing venue, you may have to make some modifications to Lightning McQeen's car parts between races. While many of these changes are cosmetic and do not affect the performance of your car, mixing and matching parts can be a fun distraction. To unlock all of Lightning's different modifications, such as off-roder, street racer and monster truck, enter "GR8MODS" on the "Cheat Mode" input screen.
Silver Trophies
Specialized trophies are awarded both for completing certain in-game missions, as well as specific tasks during the races themselves. The "silver" level of trophies is the easiest to collect, many of them involving total completion of different modes. For example, the "Big Ham!" trophy is unlocked by completing every photo-op mission, and the "Crowned Karter!" trophy by winning every "Guido Kart" event. Likewise, the "Mini Master" is gained through beating every mini-game. There are a few skill-based silver trophies as well, such as "Drift Master," which is collected by scoring 4,500 points on a single drift.
Gold and Platinum
Gold trophies are awarded for besting checkpoint characters in one-on-one races, as well as difficult point challenges. For example, gold trophies are awarded for defeating Stinger, Candice and Chick Hicks. Point challenges, like finishing the "Tokyo Mater" event with 25,000 points, or racking up at least 5,500 in "Mater the Greater" will also earn you a gold trophy. However, there is only one platinum trophy. To earn it, you must collect every single silver and gold trophy.
