Call of Duty 4 PS3 Online Cheats

"Call of Duty 4" for the PS3 offers online rewards or "unlockables," which are given to players who achieve certain ranks during the game. The single-player mission offers a large variety of interesting rewards, but the online multiplayer mode has many unlockables that really take the gaming experience to the next level.
  1. Call of Duty 4 Ranks

    • The ranking system in "Call of Duty 4" on the PS3 goes from level 1 to level 55, and the corresponding military ranks take players from Private to Commander. Each rank has its own special set of rewards for both the single player campaigns as well as online, which come in the form of "perks" or special bonuses and options.

Reaching the final rank of Commander (level 55) will unlock a special "gameplay mode" called "Prestige Mode," where players will have the opportunity to replay "Call of Duty 4" online from level 1. Do this 10 times to obtain the coveted Golden Cross medal.

Call of Duty 4 Online Weapons Perks

    • "Call of Duty 4" gives players points based on successful completion of challenges, objectives and kills. These points count toward the player's rank in the game. Certain perks are given to players who accumulate enough points to earn promotions to higher ranks as they play the game.

The first "Call of Duty 4" online multiplayer weapon bonus is given to players who reach the rank of Lance Corporal (level 4). The player is awarded a M40 sniper rifle. Sergeants (level 10) are rewarded with a M4 assault rifle. Level 13 Staff Sergeants are given a Mini Uzi small machine gun (SMG). Gunnery Sergeants (level 16) receive a M1911 pistol. A M60E4 light machine gun (LMG) is awarded to Master Sergeants (level 19).

The Dragunov sniper rifle is given to Master Gunnery Sergeants (level 22). A 2nd Lieutenant (level 25) earns a G3 assault rifle. An AK-74U SMG is the reward for reaching 1st Lieutenant (level 28).

Those who earn the rank of Captain (level 31) receive a M1014 shotgun. Players who manage to earn enough points to reach Major (level 34) will earn the R700 sniper rifle. G36C assault rifles are given to Lieutenant Colonels (level 37).

Colonels (level 40) are granted P90 SMGs while Brigadier Generals (level 43) will earn Desert Eagle pistols. The reward for being promoted to Major General (level 46) is a M14 assault rifle.

Dedicated "gamers" who manage to score enough points to reach the final few ranks in Call of Duty 4 on the PS3 will receive powerful weapons for their online campaigns. A promotion to General (level 52) will unlock the use of the MP44 assault rifle in online play. The final rank of Commander (level 55) is rewarded with access to the Golden Desert Eagle.

    Kill Streak Online Perks

    • "Kill streaks" refer to the number of kills by a player without dying. So, successfully killing three opponents in a row will be counted as a "3 kill streak." Completing various kill streaks will unlock special abilities that can be used during online games.

The ability to call in a Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) is given for "3 kill streaks." This will reveal the position of all enemies (except those using the "UAV jammer" ability) as red dots on the player's radar.

"5 kill streaks" will unlock an airstrike to be used. The player chooses the target area, and computer-controlled planes will proceed to drop bombs that cover the target area.

"7 kill streaks" grant access to helicopter support. This option allows players to call in a computer-controlled helicopter that will attack enemy players based on their "perceived threat level." This threat level is calculated by a number of factors including: the enemy's weapon, their distance from the helicopter, their individual score, and if they have already attacked the helicopter.

Players can only have access to one ability at a time. This means that players with a "3 kill streak" must use the UAV ability before they achieve a "5 kill streak" or the UAV ability will be replaced by the airstrike ability. Players must also use the available ability before they die or it will be removed when they respawn.

Call of Duty 4 Online "Perks"

    • During PS3 online games of "Call of Duty 4," special "perks" or additional equipment and options are awarded to players who have certain ranks. Players have three slots that they can use as they see fit to adapt the perks they earn to their particular style of play. However, perks are divided into three classifications and each one can only be placed in a particular slot, which limits the amount of potential combinations. Many perks can also be neutralized by players that employ perks with the opposite effect. "Juggernaut" and "Stopping Power" are an example of this. Some perks are available for all players regardless of their rank, such as "Juggernaut", but most are given as rewards for reaching specific milestones.

Slot 1 perks are weapons-related perks that give players extra payloads of certain items or allow them to detect enemy weapons. Reaching Staff Sergeant (level 14) unlocks the Bomb Squad perk that allows players to detect enemy explosives. The Claymore perk that grants the player an extra set of two claymore mines is awarded at the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant (level 23). The Bandolier perk that grants players extra ammunition is given to the rank of Captain (level 32). Colonels (level 41) receive a Fragmentation Grenade perk that gives them access to three special grenades.

Slot 2 perks have a significant effect on the way an online game unfolds. Corporals (level 8) are given the Last Stand perk, which gives them the ability to use their pistol when they have been fatally wounded for a few seconds before dying. The UAV Jammer perk, which makes players invisible to UAV scans, is granted to Sergeants (level 11). The Martyrdom perk causes players to drop a live grenade when they die and is the reward for reaching the rank of Gunnery Sergeant (level 17). Master Sergeants (level 20) receive the Sleight of Hand perk, which cuts reloading delays by 50 percent. A player with the rank of 1st Lieutenant (level 29) will have access to the Double Tap perk, which increases their rate of fire. Lieutenant Colonels (level 38) get the option of carrying two primary weapons thanks to the Overkill perk.

Only players with significantly high ranks are granted access to the Slot 3 perks, which are not initially available. 2nd Lieutenants (level 29) are given the Iron Lung perk, which allows them to hold their breath for longer during sniper mode. Majors (level 35) receive the Eavesdrop perk, which allows them to hear enemy communications. Brigadier Generals (level 44) are granted the Dead Silence perk, which allows them to be ultra-stealthy and move without being heard.
