How to Lower the LittleBigPlanet Thermometer

Developed by Media Molecule, "LittleBigPlanet" has wowed gamers with its fun and vivid art style, as will as the player's ability to design and build their own stages with the game's in depth level editor. The thermometer in the level editor is there to show you how large your stage is and how much space you have left. While the thermometer cannot be removed, there are a number of ways to keep the size of your level down.

Instructions

    • 1

Use as many different materials as possible in your level design. In "LittleBigPlanet," the more of one material you use, the harder it will be for the system to load your level. By using as many different materials as you can, you ease the stress you are putting on the PS3.

Use Emitters sparingly and check their properties to make sure they only do what you want them to do. Emitters can fill up your thermometer incredibly fast, so use them only when you feel they are a necessity. By tweaking their properties, you can make sure the emitter won't burden the game with extra options you don't want.

Adhere your objects to the floor wherever possible, or use dark matter to keep them locked in one location. Every item that is fixed in place is one less object for which the game has to generate physics. By keeping items locked down, you will leave more room to add other, more elaborate objects.

Go easy on stickers. While it might seem a good way to give your custom stage some personalized flavor, every sticker you put up is one more thing the game has to generate. Save any stickers you want to add until the very end, when your level is complete and only add the stickers you have room for. If you add stickers too early, you might have to tediously tear them down in order to keep building.
