How to Enable Games on the PS3 Slim

The PS3 Slim is a compact revision of the PlayStation 3 home gaming console. The slim model has built-in wireless capabilities and a more reliable Blu-ray drive. The PlayStation 3 uses a proprietary firmware that functions as a basic operating system. The firmware is updated at regular intervals to add features and fix errors. To enable games on the PS3 slim, you'll need to update it to the most recent firmware.

  Power on your PS3 Slim system. The power switch is on the back of the system.

  Connect your PS3 Slim to any active Internet connection. You can connect an Ethernet cable directly to the port on the back of the system or use the Network Settings page to connect to a wireless network. You can access the Network Settings page from the "Settings" menu on the main system menu.

  Highlight "System Update" from the "Settings" menu and press "X." Your PS3 system will automatically search for any available updates. If updates are found, you will be prompted to download and install them. Simply follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.
