Instructions
Remain respectful to other users, and do not bring race, sexual orientation, or gender into any smack talk towards other competitors. Repeated offenses will probably incur an account suspension or ban. Abusing other players involves using excessive racial epithets, sexual harassment, or verbal or text-based abuse. Such activities are judged by Sony to impinge upon the experience and security of other gamers. Additionally, these behaviors border or cross over into illegal activity, which is an automatic justification for a ban.
Refrain from engaging in account fraud. The PlayStation Network has suffered in the past from people hacking other players' accounts, illegally acquiring credit and account information. Do not do anything that compromises the account integrity of other gamers, including yourself. Account fraud is defined as impersonation of a Sony Entertainment representative, asking for account information or passwords, or revealing the private information of another gamer publicly over the PlayStation Network.
Prevent your account from banning by playing authorized copies of PlayStation 3 media online. If the network does not find the proper authorization keys for the media you are playing with online, there is a high likelihood of an account ban or suspension. Account suspensions occur when a user is detected as playing with illegal game discs to encourage the use of original media, keeping all players on the same playing field. Discourage other PSN members from using burned pirated game media while playing online.
Refrain from griefing, actions defined as any activity that is designed to goad or enrage other members through "killing" one's own team in a first person shooter online match, playing loud music or screaming/singing through the microphone so others can hear and exploiting game glitches to create an unfair advantage. Conversely, if you repeatedly falsely report others as behaving in this manner, you may be banned instead. As with any potential cause for ban, if other users report excessive repeat infractions your account is at risk.
