How Do I Get the Golden Bolt Action Rifle in Red Dead Redemption?

The gold plated bolt action rifle is an unlockable item in "Red Dead Redemption" multiplayer. The gun unlocks when your online character reaches Level 40 in it's plain, non-gold plated form. Unlocking the gold plated edition of the weapon requires the completion of six weapon challenges specific to the gun. Fortunately reaching level 40 and completing the weapon challenges is straightforward, it just takes a great deal online game time. By the time you reach Level 40, your rifle proficiency will improve significantly making completing the weapon challenges a breeze.

Instructions

  Earn 203,910 experience points to reach Level 40 by competing in shootouts, playing the bag game, finding treasures, hunting and raiding gang hideouts in both player-versus-player and free roam modes.

  Press the "Start" button on the controller, select "Competitive Mode" and choose either "Shoot Out" or "Bag Game" from the list of modes.

  Kill 25 enemies in player-versus-player shootouts or bag games with the bolt action rifle. Kill 50 enemies in player-versus-player shootouts or bag games with the bolt action rifle. Kill 100 enemies in player-versus-player shootouts or bag games.

  Kill 25 enemies with a single shot to the head with the bolt action rifle in player-versus-player shootouts or bag games. Preform 50 head shots using the bolt action rifle in player-versus-player shootouts or bag games. Preform 100 head shots using the bolt action rifle in player-versus-player shootouts or bag games.

  Complete all six bolt action rifle gun challenges and it will automatically get encased in gold plating upon completion.
