How Do I Free the Wizard in Demons Souls?

Sage Freke can be found locked in a cell in World 3-1, the Tower of Latria, in "Demon's Souls." You do not have to free him to progress further in the game, but you can gain Geri's Stiletto, a weapon that absorbs Magic Points (MP) from enemies it hits. He can also teach you spells in exchange for demon's souls. He appears in the Nexus after being freed from his cell.

  Walk through the Tower of Latria until you see Sage Freke locked in a cell.

  Walk down the stairs connected to the landing.

  Enter either of the two gates to Jailor's Hallway.

  Follow the hallways to reach Fool's Idol, the boss for this level.

  Kill the creature begging for its life. If you do not kill this creature, Fool's Idol comes back to life after it is killed.

  Defeat Fool's Idol. She does not move very quickly. You can defeat her easily by staying out of her attack range and firing arrows at her. Move behind a pillar when Fool's Idol attempts to cast Soul Ray.

  Climb the stairs to reach the second floor of the area you fought Fool's Idol in. The Special Key is sitting on the platform on the right side of the room. If you find a Silver Catalyst, you are on the wrong platform.

  Return to Sage Freke's cell. Examine the door to free him from the cell.
