Section 8 Tips for PS3: Head Shots

"Section 8" is a first-person shooter game. It is mainly a competitive action title with large-scale battles taking place in science fiction-inspired environments, such as rocky planets and futuristic military bases. The most effective way to take down your enemies in this game is with head shots. Hitting opposing players in the head deals more damage than hits to the body and extremity. Using head shots whenever possible is an effective tactic.
  1. Controls

    • Use the left control stick to move your character around the map. The right control stick manipulates your viewpoint. Not only does this allow you to look around the levels, it is also the way in which you aim your currently equipped weapon. These basic controls are all you need to begin lining up your head shot. Move the left stick to maneuver around the map and reach the part of the map where your enemies are. Use the right-stick to place the cursor, called a reticle, over them in to get their head in your weapon's sights.

    Aiming

    • You can fire all guns normally as you move. If surprised by an enemy or if you stumble upon a frantic firefight, pull the controller's trigger button and begin firing your weapon. Use the left trigger to focus your aim. This causes your character to move more slowly but increases your accuracy. With your character's movements slowed down, you can focus more on lining up a perfect head shot. Your view will also zoom in slightly as you aim. With sniper rifles and other weapons equipped with a scope, your view will zoom in greatly, allowing you to take careful aim from far away.

    Rapid-Fire

    • When using guns that shoot several bullets rapidly, you can afford to fire haphazardly towards your enemy. Don't abandon all care with your weapon though. Start firing towards the enemy and then focus on moving the reticle towards the head. With so many bullets flying out of your gun, at least one is bound to strike your intended target. Try to get as close as possible to the enemy when using these types of weapons. Your accuracy will increase along with the size of the target.

    Slow Pace

    • In situation where you have time, such as when sneaking up on an enemy or when looking at an enemy from afar, do not rush. Take the time to line up your head shot properly. This tactic is especially useful when using guns that do not provide rapid, automatic fire, such as pistols and sniper rifles. Use the right stick to move your aiming reticle slowly and steadily over the enemy's head before pulling the trigger. A well-placed shot performed this way will take down your enemy quickly and allow you to continue on with the mission objectives or focus on the next enemy.
