How to Pick a Pocket on Fallout 3 for the PS3

Every character in "Fallout 3," whether they are friend or foe, has a personal inventory of items they carry on their person. In the case of a foe, the player simply takes these items from their dead bodies after a battle. However, if you kill a character that is friendly, you will lose Karma and gain unwanted aggression from those that witness the act. Use the pickpocket option to take an item from another character without having to kill them -- or even let them know you took it.

     Press the "L3" button to crouch and go into stealth mode.

   • 2

     Walk slowly up behind the person you would like to pickpocket. Use the crosshair in the middle of the screen to target the person.

   • 3

     Press the "X" button when the command "Pickpocket" appears on the screen.

   • 4

     Select which items you would like to steal from the character. Equipped items cannot be stolen.

   • 5

     Press the "X" button to confirm your selection.
